CLAS Therapy

CLAS Therapy

COLOR – LIGHT – AROMA – SOUND

The Harmonial CLAS therapy program is an experiential form of therapy which helps individuals cope with stress and facilitate relaxation. CLAS therapy employs the use of color, light, aroma and  sound at the same time.  CLAS therapy reorganizes the central nervous system creating a state of balance. Once the central nervous system returns to a state of balance, an individual can better manage stress and achieve relaxation. Disease has a hard time surviving in a body where cells are vibrating at a frequency of inner peace. CLAS therapy is a multisensory program. The standard program consists of 6 to 12 sessions. There are additional programs to specifically address sleep issues, trauma, addiction, anxiety , panic, depression, burnout, phobias and athletic enhancement. This program can help with pain as well,  due to the mental components of pain. The program can be used for weekly management of anxiety and stress.

Each specific therapy package begins with a visual color bath followed by a series of colors and nature scenes that are specifically matched to address the chosen package and corresponding therapeutic issue.  This is done in conjunction with music and aromas. No two sessions are alike. CLAS therapy is complimentary with other therapies such as cranial sacral, acupuncture, massage and reflexology.

CHROMOTHERAPY

Color and light have been used for therapy since ancient times. Light is an important source of energy. All colors on the spectrum come from sunlight. Light enters our eyes and causes hormone production. Each cell in our body emits and absorbs frequencies of color and light. There have been many studies showing the healing affects of color on the mind, body, and emotions. Our skin absorbs color. Each color on the spectrum has its own frequency and wavelength. Each color has a unique energy. Each color on the spectrum is associated with a certain area of the body and affects us emotionally, physically and mentally. There are chemical and emotional components to light. Light gives off heat electricity and magnetism. Colors can affect the body and mind in different ways.  Humans have emotional responses to color and there are responses in the body. Color provides us with all the energy we need to maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit. Studies have shown that our mental health and behaviors depend largely on color balance in the body. When colors are out of balance, we can rebalance them through conscious use of color. If the body is lacking certain colors, this can cause disease. If circadian rhythms are out of balance, it can result in sleep issues or depression. Colors can influence the level of energy and energy flow in the body. When using the Lounge with color therapy, certain pre- determined colors are integrated into a visual therapy screen . Colors have been shown to have a healing effect on both mind and body. Color can affect mood. The goal of chromotherapy is to balance energy flow in the body. There are 7 energetic fields or chakras in the body, 7 colors on the rainbow spectrum and 7 musical notes. Cells absorb frequencies of color, light and aroma.

SOUND THERAPY

Sound therapy has been used in healing for centuries to lift mood and increase energy. Sound permeates the cells of the body. It effects both body and mind. It can help improve and maintain health. Music has been shown to change activity in the brain. It reduces stress, decreases heart rate and breathing, lowers blood pressure, reduces depression and anxiety and increases immunity. Our body absorbs sound the way a sponge absorbs water.

Sound therapy uses binaural beats ( two different sound frequencies playing at the same time). When a different frequency plays in each ear, the brain will combine these sounds to create a third frequency. This third frequency is a lower frequency and helps balance the body and mind. Binaural beats induce lower frequency brain waves. This third frequency takes you to alpha state.

Binaural beats effect brain waves. The brain has billions of cells called neurons. These cells use electricity to communicate with each other. This electrical activity is referred to as brain waves. There are five brainwave states: beta, alpha, theta, delta and gamma. Beta is the brainwave that we live in every day. It is required for daily functioning. Alpha is the bridge between the conscious and subconscious mind. We enter alpha when we meditate, daydream and during routine tasks. There are many health benefits that occur in the alpha state:  reduced anxiety and stress, reduction in chronic pain, reduced depression, lower blood pressure, enhanced athletic performance, increased blood flow to the brain, and increased motivation, energy and happiness. In this state there is an increase in norepinephrine, endorphins and dopamine. The theta state is also used in meditation. This is deeper and feels like a trance. The mind goes to sleep but is aware of what is happening. The mind is receptive to suggestions in this state. This is a hypnotic state. The benefits of this state are deep relaxation, improved memory, increased intuition, greater spiritual connection and a calm mind. In this state, sleep onset is quicker and quality is better resulting in less fatigue and greater healing. Beneficial hormones are released. In delta state, brainwaves are slowest. This is deep sleep. The body restores and heals itself. Anti-aging hormones are released, melatonin, DHEA and HGH. HGH helps reduce pain. This is the subconscious mind and is the bridge to the unconscious mind. The gamma state is the most rapid state. In this state we process large amounts of information. Intelligence, compassion, happiness and awareness are increased.

Music has been shown to improve athletic performance and enhance mood. It reduces pain, stimulates antibody production and releases endorphins. It is an outlet for emotions. Binaural beats can help improve memory. They can enhance athletic performance.

CLAS therapy  uses binaural sound to alter brain waves and allow relaxation. You can train your brain to change brainwaves to a lower frequency through meditation. This does not happen in one day. It takes time. By using binaural beats client’s can rapidly enter a relaxed state.

While viewing scenes consisting of individualized colors and nature, client’s will listen to binaural music through headphones. Client’s will experience aromatherapy in conjunction with sound and color therapies.

People have been using aromas for health and well being since ancient times. They were used by Egyptians and Chinese for mental, spiritual and physical healing. Essential oils from plants are used to calm, balance and renew the body, mind and spirit. Essential oils are extracted from plants.

The essential oils are inhaled by the client. Oils can be applied directly to the skin. These oils can be combined to create more powerful effects. The most popular use of essential oils is in relieving stress. Specific oils are known to be relaxants. The next most popular use is to alleviate depressed feelings. The third most common use is as a supplemental treatment with dementia and alzhiemers disease.

There are many other benefits of aroma therapy. Specific oils disinfect airborne bacteria and viruses that can have a negative effect on the respiratory system. These oils have antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal effects that help protect the body from illness and infection. Essential oils stimulate the brain causing the release of endorphins and seratonin. These brain chemicals reduce pain, decrease depression and insomnia. Essential oils are known to improve mood and reduce stress. This has a positive affect on mental functioning and behavior. Essential oils decrease anxiety, increase energy, induce sleep and strengthen the immune system. Essential oils are stimulants and can speed up healing. Certain oils can help eliminate a headache and prevent future headaches due to the reduction in stress and anxiety. Essential oils can be used as a sleep aid to produce a more balanced sleep. Oils can realign circadian rhythms.

CLAS therapy uses single essential oils to stimulate olfactory senses. Each therapy session employs the use of aromas that are known to be effective with the clients chosen issue. The oils used are based upon the 5 elements of nature: earth, wood, fire, metals and water. Time released misting of essential oil vapor is released throughout the session. Oils then travel to the skin inside of the nose, where it becomes a nerve message. From here it travels to the limbic system to the hypothalamus and then the endocrine system. From there it releases hormones to create a yin yang type balance. CLAS therapy uses 17 essential oils and 2 specialty oils.

AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy has been used to treat both physical and mental ailments. It can reduce anxiety and pain and increase energy. Aroma stimulates brain function. Aromas are absorbed by the skin. They travel through the bloodstream to stimulate healing. When we breathe in essential oils, the amygdala and hippocampus are stimulated. This affects physical, emotional and mental health. The amygdala and hippocampus store emotions and memory.

Each CLAS therapy  package has an associated series of aromas. Colors, music and aroma are all used in conjunction.
